It is sometimes said that genetically determined harmonies are amongst the most beautiful sounds in the world. American trio Joseph – aka the Closner sisters – blend three splendidly soft voices into a wonderfully beautiful whole of magical indie folk-pop. Natalie, Meegan and Allison sometimes clearly hint at First Aid Kit, Of Monsters And Men and Lana Del Rey, but have created their very own unique sound.

Their second album ‘I’m alone, No you’re not’ (2016, ATO Records – PIAS) is full of folky gems, with singles like ‘SOS (Overboard)’, ‘Blood & Tears’ and ‘White Flag’ as highlights. They have already earned their stripes as support-act to James Bay too, and scored in their homeland with a genius TV debut on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
