Pianist Jef Neve presents his new album.
AB is proud to present the latest album ‘Sons Of The New World’ by the impressive, captivating and ever enthusiastic pianist Jef Neve. “’Sons Of The New World’ is a new bundle of compositions that I dedicate to the New World of today” says Jef Neve. He's referring here to the likes of the Arab Spring, the climate changes, the drama at Pukkelpop and the worldwide economic crisis. Jef Neve profiles himself here as a socially-committed artist who doesn't want to live in an ivory tower.
In order to have a more varied sound- and colour-spectrum at his disposal, Jef Neve expanded his famous trio with five wind-instruments. This also includes saxophonist Michael Campagna – an Italian who has lived in the USA – who Jef Neve got to know during the John Coltrane project that AB put together a few years ago, together with kindred spirit José James.
You could already get a taste of 'Sons of The New World’ at Jazz Middelheim. De Standaard on that: “In his familiar style, he regularly progressed to an exciting climax with his trio. You could then hear how well-attuned the three musicians really were. Jef Neve had written a hopeful, melodic and slightly classically tinted music for the brass ensemble – you could just see the cowboys galloping into the horizon.”
