About a year ago, jazz-pianist Jef Neve performed for two sold-out days in the ABClub with his latest project GrooveTHing. These concerts were preserved for heredity via the AB-studio and finely compiled into one album. This album will be released in early April (with the working-title: 'The Love Album') and, to mark the occasion, Jef Neve will be launching his CD release in the ABClub (of course). GrooveTHing is still lynch-pin Jef Neve (not on piano but rather Hammond organ this time) and saxophonist Nicolas Kummert. Aside these impassioned Belgian musicians, the other half of the quartet consists of Nicolas Thys (bass) and current New York resident Lieven Venken (on drums). Together: GrooveTHing feels strongly about the terms funky and groovy. On the programme: mostly own work but also a number of jazz standards… Finally just a warning from GrooveTHing: "Dancing is not forbidden, wiggling might be unavoidable!".
