Jamie Woon appeared this year in the BBC’s famous Top 5 ‘Sound of 2011’. Lets just say: ‘The Year’s Most Promising New Artists.’ If you’re aware that this year both Jessie J (remember that name and ‘Do It Like A Dude’!), James Blake and The Vaccinnes also adorned that list, then you know what we’re on about. Jamie Woon, producer from London and student of the famous Brit School, is blessed with a fantastic soul voice and, for the sake of convenience, he falls under the jurisdiction of the entire post-dubstep scene. But then Woon has also worked with James Blake, Mount Kimbie, dubstep god Burial and Ramadanman lately too. His single ‘Night Air’ is a gem that has rightly received much airplay and his debut ‘Mirrorwriting’ will be released soon. We saw him live with band just recently at the Texan showcase festival SXSW and we can quite frankly say: Jamie Woon is blatantly brilliant! A last detail to close: Woon’s mother - Mae McKenna – already provided backing vocals for the likes of Björk and Michael Jackson… and it would just so happen that his latest track ‘Spiral’ (check out: MySpace) sounds exactly like the man from Neverland. Brilliant, we tell you, brilliant!
