James Hunter is a delicious soul-rock revelation. After years of touring and playing his voice and guitar skills are completely honed (and he sometimes also gets nominated for a Grammy). Or recently too, CHRIS ISAAK: 'I was a James Hunter fan the minute I heard him sing... a real soul singer with a great band...' This vehement Brit is now onto his third, appropriately named CD, 'The Hard Way', recorded in the Toe Rag studios in London, just as impressive predecessor 'People Gonna Talk' (see too: The White Stripes). We expected him last year already with Los Lobos, but now finally in the Club, after touring with Aretha Franklin, Boz Scaggs, or of course Van Morrison in the meantime. Even Allen Toussaint has been keeping an eye on James Hunter, maybe because his vocal timbre is so well situated between Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson? People Gonna Talk, you say? 'Spread the word!'
