AB celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Brussels jazz label Igloo Records
IGLOO RECORDS
An outright impressive player in jazz circles, with more than 250 releases to their name now: Brussels jazz label Igloo Records. Igloo has been active since 1978 (!) and thus celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Even though Chet Baker (!) and our national pride Philip Catherine have already recorded with them, the labelâs main goal is still to offer young jazz musicians a (very) first platform. Pianist Eric Legnini, vibraphonist Pascal Schumacher, pianist Nathalie Loriers and Melanie De Biasio were all particularly grateful to be able to debut in this way. Late last year there was already the successful evening with TaxiWarsâ drummer Antoine Pierre and trumpet player Jean-Paul EstiĂ©venart, as a part of The New Wave Of Belgian Jazz. Now itâs time for a brand new Igloo Records evening...
JULIEN TASSIN TRIO
Guitarist Julien Tassin, from Charleroi, will soon be debuting with his album âSweet Tensionâ. Although his language is entirely jazz, at the same time his music reflects a predilection for blues and rock. His learnt his trade at the conservatorium in Brussels and with artists like Daniel Romeo and pianist Eric Legnini. Whatâs more, Julien Tassin is a part of (run) SOFA, a duo that performs a psychedelic mix of rock and rap.
Line-up:
Julien Tassin: guitar
Nicolas Thys: contrabass
Dré Pallemaerts: drums
MICHEL HATZIÂ (solo)
Or: Michel Hatzigeorgiou, better known as bassist of the now legendary Belgian avant-garde jazz band Aka Moon.
