The year is 2009 and Ian Brown is totally back again, with what you could call a serious second start to his solo career, at least here in Belgium. ‘Stellify’ is the single that's currently unavoidable on the radio, and which can be found on his new studio album entitled ‘My Way’. That album has been praised by press and public due to its impressive songs and sometimes innovative production which, together with Brown's somewhat lazy singing style, create a unique sound.
So clearly Ian Brown is only looking ahead and not letting the unceasing rumours of a possible Stone Roses reunion get to him. As, from 1984 to 1996, the man was of course frontman to the legendary British band that this year celebrated the 20th anniversary of its untitled debut. Singles like ‘She Bangs The Drums’ and ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ are today a part of British musical heritage. Other young and not so young British institutions such as Arctic Monkeys and Oasis see Brown as an important influence on their musical careers. Respect!
