Think Portishead, hear exquisite UK funk-jazz-fusion
Get The Blessing is that lively British funk-jazz-fusion quartet that already shared a billing in the Main Hall with OTO Machine this spring, as a part of the Jazz Marathon.
They have now finally finished their new CD, via Naim/Pias. So this is also what you'd call a 'CD Launch'.
To situate them a little? 'Bristol-based' and from the ranks of Radiohead & Portishead!
Together since 2000, with the Portishead rhythm section of Jim Barr (bass) and Clive Deamer (drums) as stable core, plus Pete Judge (trumpet) and Jake McMurchie (sax.)
The Independent about them: 'the heavyweights of the contemporary jazz scene.' Or The Sunday Times too: 'Fiercely intelligent music in which muted trumpet and saxophone, enhanced by thoughtful washes of electronica, perform pirouettes over refreshingly melodic vamps'.
Let yourself be blessed!
