The first 100 visitors will receive their choice of a free CD by one of the bands performing on the evening!
Last spring AB provided a platform for a number of labels from Brussels: depot214, Rat Records, Green L.F.Ant and Stilll/Off. This time we'll be looking further than the city limits with Funtime, the Belgian label offering valuable opportunities to young talent in genres like punk-rock, emo, hardcore and indie-rock and that celebrates it 10th anniversary this year. Their mission statement still adorns the website header: ‘welcome to all those who still believe in alternative music as a counterculture ... this is about honest music’! A clutch from their catalogue: The Sedan Vault, Homer and previously also Cornflames and Victims Of Society.
On this evening the label will turn out with 4 impressive acts from just as many genres. PN pocketed their seventh studio-album with ‘From What Rivers Have To Offer’ and on it they display their surprising mix of intense grooves with moody interludes. Soon were brilliant as support to Wolf Parade late last year. Their singles ‘Black Cats’ and more recently ‘Asleep On the Battlefield’, both from their brilliant CD ‘As Of Yet’, occupy the middle ground between emo, wave and burnt black Britpop à la Bloc Party. There is melodic punk-rock and the intensity of hardcore to be heard on the album ‘The Hangman’s Fracture’ by Break Of Day. Then ‘I Hope You’re Writing This Down’ by Exit On The Left is a pure pop-punk gem in the tradition of Get Up Kids, Blink 182 and New Found Glory.
Funtime RADIO DJ'S (who also put together the program of the same name on Leuven's student radio station, Scorpio) will be spinning it all together.
