Fran Healy, that's the voice of Travis of course but also the songsmith responsible for many songs that adorn their six studio albums. He lives in Berlin at the moment (and actually also in London and New York) and is taking time to work on his solo work. A first series of songs was released this year on the fine album ‘Wreckorder’. ‘Contemplative, full of melancholy and with a dramatic sob’ according to Kindamuzik and Healey is clearly admired by his colleagues: Chris Martin from Coldplay once called himself ‘a poor man’s Fran Healy’ and Elton John, Noel Gallagher and Paul McCartney are fans too. The latter also contributed to ‘Wreckorder’, by the way, just as American songstress Neko Case who bore that fine duet ‘Sing Me To Sleep’ to many a peak. Healy will reproach you for your irrepressible Valentine's emotions in the AB on 14 February.
