Ghent record label marks the release of very first Fake Sampler 01
Fake Records – established in 2012 by the members of Uberdope – grew over the years (with releases by Brihang, NTREK, Bombataz and just recently IKRAAAN) to become one of the most interesting independent labels in Belgium. The very first Fake Sampler 01 will be released on vinyl in February and, to mark the occasion, all the acts on Fake will drop in for a one-off Fake Label Night in AB Club!

It’s not easy to describe Brussels’ Bombataz. These four musical prodigies pluck, with apparent ease, elements from every possible genre: ranging from a dash of jazz and a lick of danceable funk to a pinch of synth-hop. Eventually arriving at an incomparable cocktail that is always danceable. Where other bands would soon mercilessly lose it in the first bend, Bombataz keeps a good grip on the wheel during a wild ride through their universe.
Nobody does what IKRAAAN does. Her age doesn’t hinder her already developing an own voice and own style, one that distinguishes her from everything and everyone else in our country. Don’t let her honeyed voice distract you from the bitter earnestness of her words, IKRAAAN creates her hypnotising soul trap from utter necessity. The heart is on the sleeve, in order to strike everyone in the heart, but basically check it out for yourself on her first EP 'HAPPY PILL.
NTREK is a band that doesn’t make concessions. That lets its own tempo take precedence over that of the music industry with its many unwritten rules… that not a single band has to follow to be relevant. A band that delivered a timeless classic last year with 'Calping', one that was always waiting to emerge. On this Label Night, the band will perform a number of new tracks live for the first time. If that’s not convincing enough, then we don’t know what is.
Few of our nation’s hip-hop bands have a track record like Uberdope. The three seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth after 2015, but in late 2018 the pride of Ghent’s hip-hop reappeared in the spotlight, with a solid new album under their belt. Since then, the band has mainly been busy setting aflame every stage they appear on. And with running the funnest label in the land, let’s not forget that.
Brihang reveals himself to be one of the most exceptional voices of his generation – with his strong albums, inventive videos and robust live reputation – and has managed to demolish the walls of his genre in doing so. The all-rounder, who recently captivated a full Main Hall at AB with ease, will skillfully play his role as host for this Label Night, no doubt appearing on stage here and there with the other acts.
