Festive melting-pot at the crossroads of jazz, afrobeat and hip-hop
Ezra Collective is back, stronger and bolder than ever! The band from London has released ‘Ego Killah’, the third single from their new album 'Where I'm Meant To Be' that is due on November 4. With that good news, the band also announces a European tour that includes a stop at Ancienne Belgique.
Ezra Collective is one of het most exciting bands of the British jazz revival, featuring Femi Koleoso (bandleader and also a member of Gorillaz) on drums, Joe Armon-Jones on keyboards, James Mollison on saxophone, Ife Ogunjobi on trumpet and Femi's younger brother TJ on bass guitar. The quintet’s debut album, 'You Can't Steal My Joy', released in 2019, seamlessly blends the classic jazz sound with afrobeat, hip-hop and dancehall rhythms and has earned them praise from the press and invitations to appear at Europe’s best venues.
With their long-awaited second album, Ezra Collective promises a mature and ambitious new chapter in their musical journey, accompanied by a host of special guests like Sampa the Great, Kojey Radical, Emeli Sandé and Nao. Far from the dark underground clubs and stiff musicians in old-fashioned jazz suits, Ezra Collective shows guarantee a festive and relaxed vibe.
