Unique sixties pop with dashes of Prince and Tame Impala
‘Een droom van een plaat.’ (De Morgen - ****)
‘CD van de week.’ (Knack Focus)
Third time lucky! After three previous sold-out AB Clubs (in ’12 and in ’15), it is now time to step up to a bigger stage in the AB BOX. Rightly so, too. After the contemporary sounding sixties psychedelica that was to be heard on the album ‘II’, on third issue ‘Multi-Love’ UMO have switched over to a funkier slant.
Or, as De Morgen strikingly described it: ‘On Multi-Love the gun suddenly changes shoulders. This time the UMO love-nest is populated by seductive looking folks such as D'Angelo, Ariel Pink, Prince and Tame Impala. The stoned grooves have made room for horny psychedelica, funk, soul and indie-rock. The genres are constantly ogling each other and seeking a steamy night to become one in.’
