Susheela Raman and guitarist Sam Mills’ borderless collaborations have been described as ‘wildly original, passionate and dangerous’. (The Guardian)
Her 2018 album ‘Ghost Gamelan’ intertwines Susheela’s beguiling voice and enigmatic songs with Javanese Gamelan arranged by contemporary Indonesian composer Gondrong Gunarto.
Gunarto and his crack team of Gamelan virtuosos join Raman and Mills to perform the album at L’Ancienne Belgique on 17 October 2018
Additional rhythmic magic comes from Ravi Shankar accompanist Pirashanna Theverajah and maverick rising Parisian percussion star Lucie Antunes, formerly of French band Aquaserge. Dudley Phillips, formerly with Robert Wyatt and Bill Withers, weighs in on bass and double bass.
Raman’s shapeshifting emotions, together with this rich and strange meeting of musical talents, promise an unearthly musical experience.
