AB, Melkweg & EuropeByPeople organise two day festival
Music unites, especially over borders! That’s why the brothers and sisters of Melkweg (Amsterdam) & Ancienne Belgique have got their like-minded heads together to serve up the good stuff from the Fatherland on each other’s stage, in the form of a two day mini-festival (28/05 in AB (AB Box & AB Club) and 29/05 in Melkweg). It promises to be a varied, eclectic and above all exciting line-up!
For years both concert halls have been heading musically in the same direction, with overlapping programmes and identity. So it’s a logical cooperation with the help of EUROPE BY PEOPLE, an organisation which, in light of the Dutch Presidency of the European Union, has put together an impressive cultural programme, spread throughout Amsterdam and Brussels. RICO & STICKS #OPGEZWOLLETOTNU (AB BOX)
Between 2001 and 2007, Opgezwolle released three albums (‘Spuugdingen op de Mic.’, ‘Vloeistof + Brandstof’ and ‘Eigen Wereld’) which took on mythical proportions in the Netherlands. Their steamroller of raw, uncut Top Notch hip-hop grabbed you by the scruff of the neck from the very first bassline. If your teeth weren’t shaken out of your mouth by the awesome old school beats from Delic, then they definitely would have been by the jaw-dropping flow with unrivalled lyrics from MC’s Rico & Sticks, which burst into your ears like a well-aimed barrage of uppercuts.
