Istanbul Psychedelia. BaBa ZuLa has been the cheerful frontrunner of this genre for about twenty years now, a genre that enthusiastically refers to the enlightened sixties-scene there. They already have several soundtracks and CDs on their kaleidoscopic track record, also working with the likes of Sly & Robbie, Mad Professor, La Yegros ... for their latest 'XX' anniversary CD on the Glitterbeat label.

Or rather, about the press: They often consider music to be a (political) statement. A song like 'Efkarlı Yaprak' (‘Worried Leaf’) is about the uncle of frontman Osman Murat Ertel, he was a journalist who challenged the system with his pen. The result: he landed in prison and was tortured.Fun fact
BaBa ZuLa concerts sometimes also include belly-dancing or live graphic design. The instruments range from saz, darbuka and oed to machinery, theremin, oscillators, toys, spoons...Welcome ever since that first hysterical occasion in the Club (March 2012), via a Car-Free Sunday, up to and including BRDCST 2018.
