Field recordings and improvisation on found objects
Bobby Barry is a British improvisation artist who, with the aid of a series of effects and devices, manages to extract rich structures and layered harmonies from the electro-magnetic waves ‘transmitted’ by everyday objects. Objects such as an electric shaver, electric toothbrush, pencil sharpener, egg-cutter, ... He recently released a solo album with field-recording collages (‘Through Acheron’) on wiaiwya records. With his duo Far Rainbow he previously released albums on the likes of Fractal Meat Cuts records, Slightly Off Kilter and Linear Obsessional. Aside from his musical output, Bobby Barry is also a curator, journalist (for The Wire, Quietus & Frieze, amongst others) and actor.
We start off the evening with a set by Brussels field-recording artist Stijn Demeulenaere. He will present a new version of his ongoing ‘Latitudes’ project.
