In 1983 you could find the song ‘Rip It Up’ by the band Orange Juice in the British charts. The extremely young singer - who would begin a solo-career soon after - was called Edwyn Collins. He provided humanity with the world-song ‘A Girl Like You’ but that's already from 1994 ago. Exactly 11 years later, Collins had two brain haemorrhages and since then he's gradually been working his way back into the life of a musician again. That culminated in the just recently released seventh solo-album ‘Losing Sleep’ for which he could count on the assistance of songwriter friends like Ryan Jarman (The Cribs), Alex Kapranos & Nick McCarthy (Franz Ferdinand), Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Romeo Stodart (The Magic Numbers), Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera) and The Drums.
‘… unadorned and impelling … a beacon of miraculous recovery’. (Focus Knack)
‘… one of the best from his richly filled career …’ (HUMO ***½)
