Multi-instrumentalist from Minneapolis who has worked with Andrew Bird and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy.
Dosh (Martin Luther King Chavez Dosh to the municipal registry) is currently one of the prominent musical makers from Minneapolis. He's been making 4-track collages with his Fender Rhodes keyboard and all sorts of percussion instruments from early on in his career. His debut ‘Dosh CD’ was released on leading avant-hop label .anticon. In his hometown he later contributed to the band Fog (albums on Ninja Tune) and also worked closely with Andrew Bird, with whom he wrote a number of song for the man's ‘Armchair Apocrypha’ and ‘Noble Beast’ albums. Dosh's most recent work was released in 2010, entitled ‘Tommy’, and just recently he released a tour-only CD from which you can hear the song ‘Jay Jay’ here.
His latest side-project bears the name Cloak Ox and in it we find the likes of Andrew Broder from (now the circle is complete:) Fog.
This concert is a part of the Minneapolis, Mon Amour project that AB initiated in the 2011-2012 season. This concert series based upon the musical heritage of this American city celebrates the 30th anniversary of the debut by American rock band The Replacements, ‘Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash’. It was an anchor point in musical history that AB makes good use of to present concerts by the likes of Soul Asylum, The Jayhawks and Grant Hart, a Rhymesayers hip-hop package, and also an expo on the Twin/Tone label.
