Coca-Cola Sessions
Three promising Belgian acts round off CCS-season in style!
We round off a more than decent season full of exciting Coca-Cola Sessions with a trio of fresh Belgian rock-'n'-roll-blood!
The Prospects
On debut ‘Looking Good’ (out on the finely idiosyncratic Fons Records), this three-horse team from Hasselt deals in funky seventies soul rhythms with juicy pop-melodies and jagged blues riffs. First single ‘What Is Tomorrow’ certainly bursts through our speakers with incredible intensity and it even appeared on the Coldplay website last year when it was launched. Singer/guitarist Gord Achten was praised as a full-blood frontman after their MOD-release concert, while Alessio di Turi (The Sore Losers) waved farewell as drummer and passed on his sticks to Wouter Theunis (Radio Infinity). Bassist Marco Simoni – brother of – forms the final piece of what could just become the next Best Belgian Band!
Double Veterans
A psychedelic garage-rock alliance between former Humo’s Rock Rally-finalists Tubelight (singer/guitarist Lee Swinnen) and The Crackups (guitarist Thomas Valkeniers and drummer Niels Meukens, who recently won the latest HRR with Warhola). Their debut with the crazy name ‘The Brotherhood Of Scary Hair and Homemade Religion’ will be out on 11 April ’14, also on Fons Records. Without a bassist, as these thoroughbreds don't need one to serve us up a pot of steaming, irresistible sixties rock with surf influences.

The Tubs
Ghent's The Tubs released debut ‘Birds Don’t Sink’ in September ’13, jam-packed with punky garage-rock, on the cool cassette label Gnar Tapes that houses toppers like White Fang, R. Stevie Moore and our fellow countrymen from The Future Dead. No overwhelming production or grand gestures for this trio, but rather simple, impressive songs, captured in lovely lo-fi on old magnetic tape and mixed in sculleries and bedrooms!
