Club Belgique full steam ahead with Triggerfinger.
Top performers present a show for their fans in an intimate setting. Concerts are to be broadcast afterwards on Acht. The series will be kicked off by School is Cool on Saturday 22 March.
Belgian acts feel right at home in AB. After all, at least 40 to 50% of the bands that perform in the AB are Belgian. Often, they set their first steps on stage years ago in the Club and have gone on to grow into the AB Box or Main Hall. With CLUB BELGIQUE by Samsung we return Belgian acts – who have certainly already earned their stripes – to the intimacy of the AB Club and do so only for their very biggest fans, who want to see their favourite Belgian band at work from very close by before they get back to touring in other or bigger halls. Space is limited.
Those who don't manage to purchase tickets can still win them via de AB, Samsung, Acht or Triggerfinger channels. What's more, the concert will be broadcast on ACHT a few weeks later.
Triggerfinger‘By Absence Of The Sun’
Introducing the gents from Triggerfinger is actually unnecessary but, because we at AB are such fans of their steaming roots-rock, we do so anyway: golden voice and snare-whipper Ruben Block, drum monster Mario Goossens and the tightest bassist of the low lands Paul Van Bruystegem (or rather: Monsieur Paul) have finished a new album, which we certainly noticed!
Following the success of All this Dancin’ Around’ (Platinum in Belgium) and the double live-album 'Faders Up 2 - Live In Amsterdam’ (good for gold), Triggerfinger were ready to head into the studio again in early 2012. Then, suddenly, there was that fluke: a viral hit single (their version of Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’) from a radio session with Giel Beelen on Holland's 3FM. A monster hit that none saw coming and which provided a rush of momentum that had the band out on the road for a year and a half longer, to win souls in every corner of Europe with their impressive live show.
In the fall of 2013, the three were finally able to make the crossing to Los Angeles after all. There, under the motto ‘never change a winning team’, they dove into the famous Sunset Sound Studios with regular co-producer Greg Gordon (known as Dave Sardy's right-hand man and mixer of the likes of Slayer, Nick Cave and many more).
Nothing in the proven Trigger-recipe was changed, and the result is certainly worthwhile: 'By Absence of the Sun' is a homogeneous whole on which the typical Triggerfinger-sound was skilfully and clearly captured. A logical successor to the previous album, but very definitely a step forward too.
First single, the swinging ‘Perfect Match’, certainly has one expecting the best. The hardest rocking trio in the land is back with a vengeance and in top form!
So where is their new live-show to be seen first? In CLUB BELGIQUE by Samsung, of course, with TV recordings that can be admired afterwards on ACHT.
Limited places, so the message is: hurry if you want to be there!
