New album ‘Changing Colors’
Sloper was established in 2018 by two renowned drummers: Mario Goossens from Triggerfinger and Cesar Zuiderwijk from Golden Earring. Zuiderwijk joined Golden Earring in 1970 and toured the world after scoring the global hit Radar Love. Fellow drummer Mario Goossens is a founding member of Triggerfinger, the robust rock trio that has been touring clubs and rock festivals all over continental Europe for more than 20 years now.
Even before the two men met, there was already an enormous amount of mutual respect. After they ran into each other, they decided to finally ‘do something together’. They recruited British singer Peter Shoulder (Winterville, The Union and Silverthorne) and guitarist Fabio Canini (BE) to form the musical demolition crew Sloper. Zuiderwijk likes to say of himself: “I’m a drummer so I can’t play out of tune. I love that freedom when I play with Sloper.”
At the end of 2023, the band welcomed two new members to replace Peter: Jan Bas on vocals/guitar and Bas Soetens on bass. Together with Mario, Cesar and Fabio, they form the new Sloper. The music for brand new album Changing Colors is more produced than the straightforward rock of Sloper’s debut. Expect a wider variety of influences from the ‘80s, ‘90s and even Northern soul.
