American indie band Built To Spill has been releasing albums since 1992 but rarely comes to Europe. The band combines tight but melodious guitar-pop with strong, and often politically tinted lyrics. Simply one of the best kept secrets of the American underground grunge/indie scene.
The band debuted with a handful of rock-solid singles and and equally solid album titled 'There's Nothing Wrong With Love', one of the best debut albums of the 90's. During the ABconcert on Sunday 5 October Built To Spill will concentrate on the 'Perfect From Now On' album released in 1997. Due to circumstances, the album was recorded no less than 3 times, which was quite a remarkable feat in itself. Just like follow-up 'Keep It Like A Secret' it is seen by many as a anchor point in the American indie scene, with white-hot references to Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, Modest Mouse, Death Cab For Cutie and Neil Young & Crazy Horse.
Disco Doom is a Swiss band whose sound tends toward Built To Spill or Pavement even. Their lethargic, rather dark guitar sound serves too as the foundation for the lo-fi mood radiated by their songs.
