Exquisite double bill with ...
8:00 pm : Alexander Tucker (uk)
ALEXANDER TUCKER is fond of improvisation where he makes use of falsely tuned guitars, tape loops, mini disc players and effect pedals. Tucker has already released three albmns, including his latest album 'Portal', via the label of the English curatorship-festival All Tomorrow's Parties (also called All Tomorrow's Parties). He's already worked in the past with Sunn O)))'s Stephen O'Malley (in the project Ginnungagap that united doomfolk and psychedelica) as well as with Jackie-O Motherfucker. Musically, think especially of Jim O' Rourke, Stockhausen, Steve Reich and the finger-pickin' style of John Fahey.
9:15 pm : Bohren & Der Club Of Gore (d)
The most misleading band name of recent years is without a doubt BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE. The name hails from their adoration for the now disbanded Dutch instrumental noise/'heart'core group GORE. Their adoration is so great that even their discography is called discGOREography. They've ascended the AB stage twice already, including a visit during Domino as aftershow to Einstürzende Neubauten. Bohren describes itself as 'horror jazz' (think: the doom of early Black Sabbath) or 'doom-piano' (uh, have you ever heard the term 'doom piano' used in conversation?). What is certain is that: Bohren sounds exceptionally minimal and is the perfect antidote to a hectic lifestyle. Oh, and yes, Mike Patton was so impressed that he immediately released this band with their previous album on his Ipecac label.
