‘Wilderness Heart’ is Canadian psychedelic rock band Black Mountain's third full album (not counting a number of excellent EPs) - to be released on 13 September. They immediately grabbed the attention of press and public in 2005 with their untitled debut and opened shows in the United States for Coldplay on their Twisted Logic Tour. There weren't many musical links to be laid but Black Mountain's hard, dark and seriously deeply-seated-in-the-70's rock has – in its own way – a fantastic pop feel to it. Following on from 2008 release ‘In The Future’, now successor ‘Wilderness Heart’ is produced by Dave Sardy (Wolfmother, Oasis) and Randall Dunn (Sunn 0))), Earth). Partly recorded in the legendary Sunset Sound in L.A., where a number of legends passed before them (The Doors, The Rolling Stones), according to singer Stephen McBean: 'this is ‘our most metal and most folk oriented record so far’. Of courese we also know McBean from his more experimental side-project Pink Mountaintops.
After 2 summer festivals in Belgium (Cactus and Dour) Black Mountain will now be arriving at the AB on Tuesday 5 October.
Support act will be extremely hard duo Tweak Bird, who already performed 2 years ago at the ATP festival curated by Mike Patton and The Melvins, fixed themselves a tour with Tool and now head out on the road with Black Mountain. But then brothers Caleb and Ashton Bird do also make psychedelica drenched, primarily instrumental stoner-blues meets jazz-metal. You can't keep up? Don't worry, just be there on time.
