Soul! Just pronounce it with a French accent and add: emotive and sultry and cool. Because Ben L'oncle Soul is a festive phenomenon. Un vrai 'soulman' and, yeaaaaah, that's also the title of his latest, soulful single!
To start with there was suddenly that engaging EP with the great cover of White Stripes' 'Seven Nation Army', aside equally notable versions of Gnarls Barkley,Spice Girls, Pink Martini, Katy Perry and Aqua! The Soulwash tour of the same name did the rest: here you had a high-spirited and mischievous performer who could entertain like no other... and so was perfectly entitled to turn a Couleur Café tent upside down in 2010. Anyhow, in the meantime there is also the vibrant debut CD 'Ben L'oncle Soul', on the – admit it – eternally legendary Motown label via Universal (and surely you'll be getting a hold of the super fine deluxe version?).
Ben effortlessly fills halls like the Elysée Montmartre and le Zénith in Paris (plus of course the all too often sold-out remainder of France.) Ben L'oncle Soul can be heard on all our radio stations and the single also already appeared in Humo's selective Arriba chart but, for the definitive soul firework, be sure to check out his Taratata TV version with Selah Sue! Signed, sealed, delivered!
