Ballroomquartet - release third full-album, produced by Blixa - Einstürzende Neubauten - Bargeld!
A few keywords: idiosyncratic sound and unconventional instrumentaria, originality and eccentric combination of acoustic instruments with electronica, energy, virtuosity and feeling, a filmic mix...
For their third full-album, to be released in December 2009, the band will work in Berlin with none less than Boris Wilsdorf and Blixa Bargeld (see: Einstürzende Neubauten and The Bad Seeds!).
Ballroomquartet:
Andries Boone: mandolin, violin & bulbul tarang
Rony Deprins: accordion, synths, vocoder & theremin
Michaël Donckers: bass
David Vertongen: drums, piano & bells
With 'Soundmanifest', their previous and second CD, De Standaard talked about retro-electronica and: 'creative interaction of four strong musicians and their extensive instrumentarium. In the baggage sit eastern styles, rock, folk and jazz with a focus on the future. Postmodern? Most likely, as the mix of styles is colourful and cheery one minute and pensive the next 3/4*.'
FREE for Babylon Circus – concertgoers on this same evening in the Main Hall.
