It's More Than Okay, even without sister Julia!
Australia's Angus Stone, also known from Angus & Julia Stone: 'Big Jet Plane' (a hit worldwide) and a sold-out AB in December 2010 (concert of the year according to the AB site!?)
N0w on the road without his sister (in a VW Minibus?) With a first solo CD in his own name: the fantastic 'Broken Brights' (here via EMI.)
And do excuse us, the intro above is a variant on that of sister Julia for her ABConcert in October 2012. The siblings would seem to be inseparable. Even though they're touring almost in parallel over the entire world. Even though they've got quite different characters. Even though their albums sound quite different too: the more exuberant Julia goes for a clear chanson sound, reclusive Angus cherishes his country rock roots more.
Or as Humo put it with 'Broken Brights': '3*/4 Stone is no Jack Johnson. Turf the number of musical giants – Crazy Horse, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed – that he clearly places on a pedestal, spread over thirteen modest but impassioned tracks, and conclude that -in spite of it all - he can rarely be accused of falling into trivial epigonism.'
In any case, to be keenly situated aside a milder Neil Young, Jonathan Wilson, Jack Johnson, G Love... Those higher circles where hippie-ideals still yield radiant songs. After a full Bota Rotonde, this time it'll all be happening in the ABFlex on Monday 11 February 2013!
