Rat Records Event # 1 presents … Andrew d'Angelo presenting his trio + Teun Verbruggen GOWK 6-TET
AB and RAT RECORDS – the label of versatile jazz drummer TEUN VERBRUGGEN – are going to work together. So in the coming AB season, RAT RECORDS will present four concert-evenings in our ABClub. Teun Verbruggen is certainly no unknown to the AB. Earlier this year he stood on stage with his trusty JEF NEVE TRIO again and soon even with JOSÉ JAMES. He's already played here in the past with OTHIN SPAKE (with Mauro Pawlowski amongst the members) and also FLAT EARTH SOCIETY. 8:00 pm - Teun Verbruggen GOWK 6-TET
TEUN VERBRUGGEN's youngest brainchild received the name GOWK . This quartet consists of upcoming jazz musicians with a fresh ideas about music and who create an extremely unique sound: Yannick Peeters (bass), Joachim Badenhorst (sax), Christian Mendoza (piano) and of course Verbruggen himself. The quartet will be supplemented by two special guests for the occasion, namely two young hounds from the Netherlands: Sanne Van Heck on trumpet and Jasper Stadhouders on guitar. GOWK's music is modern jazz. The theme: free improvisation. Or – in their own words: "from minimal music to rock inspired jazz but with en extremely enthusiastic sound."

We're extremely pleased that New York saxophonist ANDREW D'ANGELO will appear on the AB stage this year after all. Earlier this year he cancelled his performance with Hilmar Jensson due to medical reasons. So we're pleased that he's back in good health. Andrew is touring due to his just recently released album ‘Skada Degris’ (via Skirl Records), which is at the same time his debut with the renowned trio containing Jim Black and Trevor Dunn. We already saw the last two perform in AB with the likes of Mike Patton’s Fantômas.
