The new … And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead LP entitled ‘Tao Of The Dead’ has seen the light of day on 8 February 2011. This is already the seventh studio album by the band formed around Conrad Keely (who is also responsible for the band's artwork) and Jason Reece. They describe the new album as refreshing nostalgia; a tribute to bands like Pink Floyd, Steppenwolf and Neu! They worked again with producer Chris Smith who also took care of their untitled debut from 1998. A first single ‘Summer Of All Dead Souls’ will already be released on 29 November. The New Yorker wrote the following about previous album ‘The Century Of Self’ (that the band – after several years with Interscope Records – released on its own label Richter Scale): "…ferocious…a new brand of progressive rock infused with anarchic execution…". Those who caught their concert at Rock Herk in 2009 know that this band is still alive and kicking, on stage too.
The European tour that brings Trail Of Dead to the AB in April 2011 will be undertaken in the company of that other American rock band Rival Schools. The band encompassing ex-Quicksand singer/guitarist Walter Schreifels has only released 1 album to date, ‘United By Fate’ in 2001. A second album never officially saw the light of day but, after a hiatus of several years, Rival Schools is totally back with a new album. ‘Pedals’ is to be released in March but you can already find the single ‘Shot After Shot’ on the internet.
