Aimee Mann will be at the AB on Saturday 1 November. Lovers of the better sentimental song already know where to celebrate All Saints Day this year.
Aimee Mann already has a long history behind her, with the formation of 'Till Tuesday and later as solo performer. She's been treating the world to her subtle sketches of inter-personal relationships since 1985. Her talent was recognized by the likes of film director Paul Thomas Anderson. For the record, he chose about eight Aimee Mann songs for the soundtrack of Magnolia (including 'Wise up' and 'Save me').
In the summer of 1999, Aimee Mann had had more than enough of patronizing record companies. She bought the rights to her album 'Bachelor N 2' back from her record label and decided to establish her own label. The company was christened 'SuperEgo Records' and would initially only sell via internet. But the demand for her record kept increasing and finally she decided to offer it for sale in shops via a distribution deal. It was a raging success. Since then the idiosyncratic singer-songwriter has been keeping a tight hold of the reins. Her CDs are always finely packaged releases that fans don't have to pay extra for. After 'Lost in Space' came the proof that she's capable of great live performances: 'Live at St. Ann's Warehouse'. In 2005 she told the story of a doomed love-affair between a boxing, drug addicted, Vietnam veteran and an impatient girl of sixteen that wants to leave home, with the concept album 'The Forgotten Arm'.
Aimee Mann recently released the fantastic album '@#%&*! Smilers', with the striking single 'Freeway'. On 1 November she'll come to present you those songs live. The @#%&*! message is 'be there'!
