Muzikale octopus & lid van Bazart begeestert met ‘Aura’
Zanger, songwriter en muzikale octopus Oliver Symons ontpopte zich het laatste jaar tot één van de grootste vaderlandse poptalenten met tentakels in Nederlandstalig fenomeen Bazart, Humo’s Rock Rally-laureaat ’14 Warhola (de echte achternaam van popart-kunstenaar Andy Warhol) en als co-producer van indiepop-queen Tsar B.
Met Warhola’s debuut-EP ‘Aura’ (Pias) schakelden Symons en kornuiten dit voorjaar een vitesse hoger en daarmee wisten ze een karrevracht recensiesterren en lofzang tot in New York, van het toonaangevende digitale muziekmagazine Pigeons & Planes, te strikken.
De AB Club-releaseshow op 6 april was meesterlijk (***1/2 HUMO) en dat zijn de woorden van De Morgen-recensent Gunther Van Assche evenzeer: “zwaarmoedige scifi-pop waarbij James Blake en SOHN de verfborstel mee lijken vast te houden.” Met Tsar B, Vuurwerk, Glints, Soldier’s Heart, Hydrogen Sea en Warhola helemaal voorop dient er zich alleszins genoeg vers vaderlands voer aan om de top van de electropop, waar Oscar And The Wolf en Bazart al vertoeven, te bevolken!
