Met hun beste werk sinds Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia
In april verschijnt het achtste album van de uit Portland, Oregon afkomstige rockers The Dandy Warhols. ‘This Machine’ werd gemixt door Tchad Blake (zie ook de 2 recente meesterwerken van The Black Keys). Op dat album zullen we bovendien een samenwerking horen tussen Warhols-frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor en Bauhaus en Love And Rockets bassist David J. Zij die ‘This Machine’ al mochten horen spreken van hun beste werk sinds ‘Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia’.
Al zo’n 18 jaar zijn de Dandy Warhols actief. Dat ging uiteraard gepaard met heel wat ups en downs voor dit viertal. Rond de eeuwwisseling was er het succes met singles als ‘Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth’ en ‘Bohemian Like You’. Met de LP ‘Welcome To The Monkey House’ uit 2003 koos een schare fans het hazenpad, vooral omwille van de vele synthesizer geluiden die deel uitmaakten van de toenmalige sound; een gevolg van de medewerking van Duran Duran’ Nick Rhodes als co-producer. Maar met ‘Odditorium Or Warlords Of Mars’ uit 2005 en ‘... Earth To The Dandy Warhols’ uit 2008 is de band opnieuw in bloedvorm.
Support wordt het Britse duo AK/DK dat electronica en snoeiharde drums combineert met een ongezonde dosis energie. Het leverde hen vergelijkingen open met Battles, Death From Above 1979 en Neu.
