Guitig, ontroerend en getalenteerd. Dat is Rufus Wainwright in drie woorden. Hij komt op de proppen met een nieuw album ‘Out Of The Game’. Mark Ronson stond aan de knoppen voor dat nieuwe album en dat horen we onmiddellijk aan de groovy sound. «Out Of The Game», de gelijknamige eerste single uit het album, is een perfect voorbeeld van dat nieuwe geluid. Rufus Wainwright kondigt nu ook een nieuwe tournee aan die hem in de herfst weer naar België zal brengen.
Rufus is niet alleen een veelzijdige persoonlijkheid maar ook een verbazende artiest. Hij komt uit een muzikale familie en weet zijn stijl erg snel te bepalen dankzij zijn betoverende stem. Hij haalt heel wat inspiratie bij de music-hall en heeft een zwak voor het theatrale en voor hoogdravende orkestraties maar altijd met de zin voor juistheid, humor en subtiliteit. Rufus is een even schitterende songwriter als performer met een onbetwistbaar talent. Hij verschijnt voor het eerst op de rockscène in 1998 met een gelijknamige eerste album. Daarna volgen ‘Poses’ (2001), het schitterende ‘Want One’ (2003) dat hem net als ‘Want Two’ (2005) internationale roem bezorgen. In 2007 wordt zijn talent bevestigd met zijn eerste zelf-geproducete album ‘Release The Stars’. Daarin legt Rufus de nadruk op grootse orkestratie met de prachtige single “Going To A Town”. Daaropvolgend zien we hem op het podium van Werchter en even later tijdens een magisch concert in het Koninklijk Circus van Brussel. Na een hommage-album voor Judy Garland en een live-album bracht Rufus zijn zesde plaat ‘All Days Are Night: Songs For Lulu’ solo aan de piano in het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel. Nu zakt hij terug af naar Brussel en stelt hij, deze keer in de Ancienne Belgique, zijn nieuwe ‘Out Of The Game’ voor op dinsdag 27 november.
