Puscifer, het veelzijdige collectief rond Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell en Carina Round, komt op 2 november naar Ancienne Belgique in Brussel met hun ‘Normal Isn’t Tour’. De band viert daarmee de release van hun nieuwe album in meer dan vijf jaar.
Geschreven en opgenomen in Arizona, Los Angeles en onderweg tijdens de Sessanta-tour, combineert ‘Normal Isn't’ de donkere elektronica en scherpe humor met een rauwere, meer spontane aanpak waarvoor Puscifer bekend staat. Het album duikt dieper in de postpunk- en gothinvloeden van de bandleden, en kiest tegelijk voor een rauwere, directere en meer gitaargerichte sound. “We leunen bewust op onze vroege invloeden,” zegt Keenan. “Het is de plek waar goth en punk elkaar ontmoeten, dat is waar ik vandaan kom.”
Puscifer blijft een unieke entiteit binnen de alternatieve muziekwereld: een collectief dat muziek, performance en visuele kunst samenbrengt tot een totaalervaring. De band speelde op grote festivals als Coachella en Bonnaroo, verkocht wereldwijd zalen uit en werkte samen met artiesten als Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Phantogram en Sir Mix-A-Lot. Ook hun eigen universum van excentrieke personages – van Billy D tot Special Agent Dick Merkin – maakt deel uit van hun onnavolgbare identiteit.
