Up-tempo pastorale folk is zowat de eerste muzikale omschrijving die je te binnen schiet wanneer je het debuutalbum ‘Sigh No More’ van Mumford & Sons een eerste keer beluistert. De band ontstond dan ook in de schoot van de nieuwe Londense folkscene waartoe ook artiesten als Noah & The Whale en Laura Marling behoren. Eerste single ‘Little Lion Man’ groeide in ons vlakke land uit tot een regelrechte hit met massale airplay op Radio 1, Studio Brussel en ja zelfs MNM. Ondertussen is er alweer een nieuwe single ‘Winter Winds’ en ook ‘The Cave’ kunnen velen onder ons alvast meezingen. HUMO had het in zijn albumbespreking over ‘ijzersterke songs’ en hun schitterende passage op Crossing Border in Antwerpen november ll. noopt Mumford & Sons tot een nieuw concert, ditmaal in de AB en wel op dinsdag 27 april.
Support wordt de Britse singer-songwriter Johnny Flynn. Citeert zelf muzikale invloeden zo divers als John Fahey en The Pixies maar houdt evengoed van Yeats en Shakespeare want spendeert de andere helft van zijn tijd op een theaterpodium. Voor de triviajagers onder jullie: Flynn studeerde aan de Bedales School waar hij de schoolbanken deelde met Lily Allen, Luke Pritchard van The Kooks en Patrick Wolf. Zijn debuut ‘A Larum’ werd goed onthaald in zijn thuisland met 4 sterren vanwege de Q en Mojo magazines.
