Jason Joel Desrouleaux werd op 21 september 1989 in Miami (Florida) geboren. Muziek, dans en acteren waren passies die hem van kindsbeen af mateloos boeiden. Naast zijn formele opera-, ballet en theateropleiding begon Jason al zeer jong met het schrijven van eigen songs. Als kind bestudeerde (en imiteerde) hij Michael Jackson, Usher en Justin Timberlake, maar hij werd al gauw songleverancier voor onder andere Birdman (de song ‘Bossy’), Hip Hop ster Lil Wayne, Bad Boy R&B zangeres Cassie en de meidengroep Danity Kane.
Producer J.R. Rotem (van het befaamde Beluga Heights label) verzocht hem om songs te leveren voor de tweede plaat van Sean Kingston. De samenwerking was zeer vruchtbaar en even later besloten Rotem en Derülo om samen de studio in te trekken.
De eerste twee singles "Whatcha Say" en “In my head” sloegen in als een bom. Ter ondersteuning van de release van zijn titelloos debuut (Jason Derülo) verzorgde hij een tijd het voorprogramma van Lady Gaga tijdens ‘The Monster Ball Tour’. Vorige maand verscheen de derde single “Ridin’ Solo” en ondanks het feit dat de originele samples (uit Bitter Sweet Symphony van The Verve) niet gebruikt mochten worden, bestijgt dit nummer momenteel mondiaal de hitlijsten.
Daags na zijn eenentwintigste verjaardag kan je in de AB kennismaken met deze nieuwe rasartiest.
Na hun rol in de nieuwste clip van Jason Derulo, “What If", heeft de Australische meidengroep Trinity nu ook een wereldwijd partnerschap met hem afgesloten. De groep zal in augustus en september het voorprogramma van Jason verzorgen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Schotland, Duitsland, Nederland, België en Frankrijk.
Trinity wist de aandacht van Derulo te trekken tijdens een recente reis in de VS, waar de groep training volgde bij Mo'at, choreograaf van sterren als Usher, Britney Spears en Jennifer Lopez.
Yianna, Sammy en Stephanie brengen binnenkort hun eerste plaat uit, en daarop zal ook Jason Derulo te horen zijn. "Watch Trinity take over the world,” Jason Derulo.
