Gotan Project toont als geen ander dat akoestische instrumenten perfect kunnen samengaan met electronica. Keer op keer leveren ze een prachtig spektakel en vooral blijven ze trouw aan de basisbeginselen van de tango. Gotan Project kent mondiaal succes. Overal, van Tokio tot Istanbul, van New York tot Sidney, treden ze op voor uitverkochte zalen, intussen al meer dan 350 concerten lang. Trots kunnen ze stellen dat een nieuwe generatie dankzij hen de tango in al zijn facetten ontdekt. Omdat ze zo vaak onderweg zijn en overal ter wereld komen, hebben Philippe Cohen Solal, Eduardo Makaroff en Christoph H. Müller reeds lang geleden begrepen dat de beste manier om trouw te blijven aan de roots, de voeten gebruiken is. Zowel om vooruit te gaan, om te reizen en om te dansen. Wat eigenlijk allemaal een beetje hetzelfde is. Dat is de reden waarom hun tango, en vernieuwend is die zeker, bewust geen schoon schip maakt met het verleden. Zoals alle ontwikkelde muzikanten weten ze dat de term ‘revolutie’ evenveel betekent als ‘hetzelfde op een andere manier’. Ze beseffen eveneens dat de geschiedenis van de tango verbonden is met die van de cinema. Dat is altijd al zo geweest. De beelden versterken de mooie muziek. Gotan Project geeft te verstaan en laat horen dat ze toegewijd de kunst van de tango begrijpen met zowel oog voor het heden als het verleden. Gotan Project stelt op donderdag 20 mei het nieuwe album voor in de Ancienne Belgique.
