Goose won dit jaar een MIA (Music Industry Award) in de categorieën Dance en Artwork.
Het Kortrijkse Goose is helemaal terug! Na het zinderende en explosieve debuut ‘Bring It On’ (dat alweer dateert uit ’06), is er nu hun tweede plaat ‘Synrise’. Een plaat die verwijst naar de new wave elektro van de jaren ’80 maar ook naar – hou u vast – naar de etherische synthesizers van Jean-Michel Jarre en zowaar Vangelis. Die laatste is alvast geen verrassing, want op het afgelopen Soulwaxmasfestival in Antwerpen coverde de band zelfs ‘Pulstar’ van Vangelis. De band over deze lichte koerswijziging: " Er is één constante: we willen onszelf blijven verrassen. Verrassen is belangrijker dan vernieuwen". De single annex klasbak ‘Words’ (met die felle Depeche Mode echo’s) kent u al en dra zingt u ook uit volle borst de volgende single ‘Can’t Stop Me Now’ mee. Nog een mooi detail: als u van mening bent dat de hoes van ‘Synrise’ opvallend naar Pink Floyd neigt: u hebt gelijk. Het ontwerp is namelijk van niemand minder dan Storm Thorgerson die het artwork van Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ voor zijn rekening nam. Voor wie Goose live aan het werk zag op respectievelijk Pukkelpop en I Love Techno, weet hoe laat het is om een van de strafste live-bands uit het genre te mogen aanschouwen.
Support wordt de Nederlandse act Palmbomen. Palmbomen is het alterego van Amsterdammer Kai Hugo die ergens zweeft tussen italo disco en sixties pop. Zijn live show (solo, omgeven door een indrukwekkende lichtshow) op Eurosonic konden we reeds fel smaken. Na zijn support voor de concerten van Goose, trekt de man overigens naar het Texaanse showcase festival SXSW om daar zijn kunsten te vertonen.
