Think Portishead, hear exquise UK funkjazzfusion
Get The Blessing is dat geestige Britse funkjazzfusion kwartet dat in het voorjaar binnen de Jazzmarathon al de affiche van de grote zaal deelde met Oto Machine.
Nu eindelijk klaar met hun nieuwe cd, bij Naim/Pias. Dit heet dan ook een 'cd-voorstelling'.
Toch nog even situeren? 'Bristol-based', en uit de rangen van Radiohead en Portishead!
Sinds 2000 bijeen met als vaste kern de Portishead ritmesectie Jim Barr (bas) en Clive Deamer (drums), plus Pete Judge (trompet) en Jake McMurchie (sax.)
The Independent hierover: 'the heavyweights of the contemporary jazz scene.' Of ook The Sunday Times: 'Fiercely intelligent music in which muted trumpet and saxophone, enhanced by thoughtful washes of electronica, perform pirouettes over refreshingly melodic vamps'.
