Het concert van David Hallyday op dinsdag 7 december in de AB is helaas geannuleerd. Wegens logistieke redenen wordt het concert uitgesteld naar een later te bepalen datum.
Mensen die willen terugbetaald worden, kunnen dit vanaf vandaag in de verkoopspunten waar de tickets gekocht werden.
David Smet werd in 1966 bij zijn trotse ouders Jean-Philippe Smet en Sylvie Georges Vartanian geboren. De buitenwereld kon in die tijd niet genoeg krijgen van het ouderpaar dat als Johnny Hallyday en Sylvie Vartan zalen deed vollopen. David zou (samen met zijn neef Michael Vartan) voornamelijk bij zijn grootouders opgroeien.
Dankzij zijn nonkel Eddie Vartan (orkestleider van zowel Johnny als Sylvie) werd David door twee microbes gebeten: de autosport en de muziek. Als piloot wist hij een niet onaardig palmares bijeen te koersen. Maar toen hij -gewapend met dezelfde artiestennaam als zijn vader- de entertainmentwereld binnenstapte, was het hek van de dam. Als muzikant ontpopte hij zich als een getalenteerd multi-instrumentalist (drums, gitaar en piano) en gevierd componist. In 1987 schitterende hij als acteur in ‘He’s my girl’, een komedie waarvoor hij ook een aantal nummers schreef. Hij scoorde aanvankelijk in het Engels, maar zou na enkele platen naar zijn moedertaal teruggrijpen.
Onlangs verscheen zijn tiende plaat ‘Un Nouveau Monde’ waarin hij opnieuw de Angelsaksische muziektraditie met hoogstaande Franse lyriek mengt. Naast een pakkend duet met zijn halfzus Laura Smet, bevat deze plaat 10 eclectische wereldsongs.
Op 7 december komt de Franse zanger ‘Un Nouveau Monde’ live in België voorstellen.
