Je hebt Coco Jones misschien al op het grote scherm gezien want ze speelt al in films en op tv sinds haar tienerjaren. Misschien heb je haar ook al op het kleine scherm gezien want met bijna 2 miljoen volgers op TikTok zet ze zich in voor meer representatie van getalenteerde zwarte vrouwen.
Maar je moet haar vooral horen, want de veelzijdige Coco Jones lanceerde enkele jaren geleden eindelijk haar muziekcarrière.
In 2022 tekende ze bij High Standardz/Def Jam en bracht ze de EP What I Didn’t Tell You uit, met als leadsingle “ICU”, die inmiddels platina is gecertificeerd. In 2024 werd ze genomineerd voor maar liefst vijf Grammy Awards -waaronder de felbegeerde Best New Artist-prijs- en won ze de Grammy voor Best R&B Performance met “ICU”.

Haar R&B is soulful, eerlijk en verhalend, en haar acteerervaring helpt haar duidelijk om emoties en verhalen in haar nummers over te brengen. En hoewel ze nog jong is, voelt het als iets waar ze al heel lang naartoe werkt.
