BRUSSELS JAZZ MARATHON
Op vrijdag 29 en zaterdag 30 mei wordt Brussel opnieuw het kloppende jazzhart van België. Dan trekt de BRUSSELS JAZZ MARATHON door de stad met een niet te missen programma. Dé jaarlijkse rendez-vous voor wie houdt van sfeer en ambiance. Meer dan 125 concerten ofte 450 muzikanten zetten de stad in vuur en vlam! Van openluchtpodia op de Grote Markt, de Zavel, het Sint Katelijneplein en het Fernand Cocqplein, aangevuld met een swingend indoor circuit in talrijke clubs en cafés waaronder uiteraard onze eigenste AB. PASCAL SCHUMACHER QUARTET
‘Here We Gong’ (via Enja Records) is intussen al het vierde album van Pascal Schumacher, Luxemburger en zonder twijfel een van de beste vibrafonisten van het moment. De titel verwijst naar een uitspraak van Steve Reich uit ‘02, en slaat op de rol van de vibrafoon als orkestleider in Reich’s ‘Music for 18 Musicians’. Maar Pascal Schumacher zoekt en vindt zijn eigen geluid, anders dan dat van zijn meesters. Zijn muziek bevat niet alleen complexe motieven en gelede arrangementen, maar ook stijlbreuken, ritmevariaties en fragiele melodieën. Deels geïnspireerd door Britse pop-rockgroepen als Coldplay, Snow Patrol en Travis, is Pascal Schumacher continu op zoek naar gelijkaardige compositionele esthetiek, maar dan gecreëerd door puur muzikale middelen en wars van complex studiowerk.
