Laat je indiehart verwarmen door dit West-Londense folkduo
Met debuut ‘Islands’ wist het West-Londense Bear’s Den het laatste anderhalf jaar menig indiefolkhart te verwarmen. Ze palmden vorige zomer de Pukkelpopse Marquee in met hun melancholische folky luisterliedjes en in okt ’16 herhaalden ze dat huzarenstuk met verve in AB.
Momenteel zitten Andrew Davie en Kevin Jones, afgeslankt tot duo met het vertrek van Joey Haynes begin dit jaar, in de studio voor opvolger ‘Red Earth & Pouring Rain’ (Communion Records 22/07). Ze haalden de mosterd voor de nieuwe songs uit de 70’s en 80’s rock van Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles en Bruce Springsteen afgewisseld met hedendaagse invloeden van The National en Sufjan Stevens. “Brutally honest, brilliantly realised and spiritually uplifting."
Ze werden al vaak in één adem genoemd met andere folky kleppers als Mumford & Sons, Fleet Foxes en Ben Howard, maar na een aanstaande passage op Rock Werchter ‘16 zou het wel eens kunnen dat Bear’s Den de poppy folkfakkel helemaal overneemt. Laat het kampvuur alvast lustig knetteren in een ongetwijfeld tsjokvolle AB.
