En we ontvingen deze lekker veelzeggende tekst van hen in excellent Engels: 'Benito Band is an anomaly: A rock trio with no guitars, a sad song party band, a three-man octuplet with 24 arms and 19 legs. With their particular variety of “Lumberjack Ska” they have spent the past 3 years touring across Europe turning dance floors into un-salvageably sweaty masses of humanity. Meeting in this European capital known for grey skies and greyer suits, the duo were surprised to stumble upon an underground party scene comparable to the heydays of Berlin or San Francisco. With a twist of irony, Benito Band teamed up with a mob of Italians called Anti-Tapas whose mantra of tenemos el derecho de ser felices! (“we have the right to be happy!”) sets the tone for one the city's wildest all night parties. Here, this pair from small-town Ontario found an unconventional home for an organ-drums duo heavily influenced by Jamaican soul, 8 bit video-games, and 1970s road movies. Having firmly established Brussels as their base, the two became known throughout Western Europe for playing explosive sets of genre-defying music which fetched such twisted monikers as “Power Folk Vintage”, or “Cabaret Blues.” In the midst of a 21-concert, 3-week tirade through southern Italian street festivals, they met Icelandic Tuba/Saxophone/Harmonica player Knut Greenfjord, then touring with the world's only Belgistani fanfare orchestra. Soon afterwards, they set to work at his homemade recording studio in Paris to lay down the tracks that would become the trio's first EP: Caterpillar Pantomime. Benito Band has just returned from a month-long CD release tour which brought them to Germany, France, Canada and now back to Belgium where they will take to the stage of the AB opening for Axel Krygier!'
