Ou des consĂ©quences de la crise. Pendant la Grande DĂ©pression, les Brill Brothers furent contraints de louer lâimmeuble qui abritait leur magasin de confection sur Broadway, Ă New York, Ă des Ă©diteurs musicaux. A compter des annĂ©es 30, le bĂątiment qui hĂ©bergeait jusquâalors des courtiers et des banquiers se transforma en centre nĂ©vralgique de lâindustrie musicale gĂ©nĂ©rant, jusqu'Ă la fin des annĂ©es 70, des tubes planĂ©taires qui allaient marquer l'histoire de la musique jusqu'Ă nos jours.
La crise actuelle a dĂšs lors incitĂ© Patrick Riguelle, vĂ©ritable encyclopĂ©die vivante de la musique, Ă aller fouiner dans la riche tradition musicale produite par des gĂ©ants de l'Ă©poque comme Leiber & Stoller, Neil Diamond, Carole King, Burt Bacharach, Paul Simon, Doc Pomus et mĂȘme Phil Spector.
Riguelle est, sans aucun doute, lâun des chanteurs belges les mieux placĂ©s pour interprĂ©ter ce genre de chansons. Un fait que personne nâosera contester depuis ses apparitions dans De Laatste Show sur la VRT.
Peu de gens savent, par contre, que John Terra est abonnĂ© aux mĂȘmes racines musicales. De fait, rares sont ceux qui ont dĂ©jĂ eu lâoccasion de l'entendre chanter en anglais. Le voile sur ce secret bien gardĂ© est dĂ©sormais levĂ© avec âSongs from the Brill Buildingâ.
Assistés par un excellent band, Riguelle et Terra redonnent du lustre à de petits bijoux datant des années 50 et 60.
Des 'Golden oldiesâ, comme on dit. Pas par pure nostalgie, mais par amour du mĂ©tier. Le tout sera parsemĂ© d'anecdotes qui ne manqueront pas de plaire aux amateurs de musique. Savoir Ă©crire des chansons et les interprĂ©ter, voilĂ qui est tout un art !
