The Horrors Euro support Belgian debut!

L'acronyme S.C.U.M. (Society for Cutting Up Men) vient du manifeste éponyme de Valerie Solanas, la féministe détraquée qui tenta d'abattre Andy Warhol. Portishead les a programmés lors des All Tomorrow's Parties, le plus branché de tous les festivals, bien avant qu'ils ne sortent un album. Un des membres a de la famille chez The Horrors, un autre chez Add N to (X)...
Le son est énorme : les chansons évoluent, morceau aprÚs morceau, dans un océan de synthés et de claviers, avec le chanteur Thomas Cohen alternant entre sirÚne et corne de brume... Du rock à guitares épique, respectueux d'une tradition britannique ambitieuse qui tend vers The Verve et Echo & The Bunnymen. Le titre de clÎture 'Whitechapel', qui est aussi leur nouveau single, démontre, quant à lui, combien Arcade Fire a marqué la jeune génération de musiciens...
Mais on trouve S.C.U.M. encore meilleur quand il donne Ă fond dans le synthĂ©tique, du calme inquiĂ©tant de 'Cast Into Seasons', qui rappelle Talk Talk, Ă la tempĂȘte exemplaire de 'Summon the Sound'. 'Paris' est, pour clore, une perle baroque qui Ă©vite de cĂ©der sous son propre poids : un motif au piano Ă l'avant-plan avec un combat d'arriĂšre-garde entre feedback et synthĂ©s ...
On attend dĂ©jĂ avec impatience le successeur de 'Again Into Eyes'. Si le groupe parvient Ă garder le mĂȘme niveau pour ses propres aspirations, le succĂšs sera colossal.
La premiÚre partie sera assurée par les Belges de Sabena et leur joyeuse électro-pop aux connections africaines. Puisse leur carriÚre connaßtre un décollage immédiat !
