Comme le suggĂšre le titre de l'album (« parents Ă©loignĂ©s »), Nas & Damian Marley ont voulu explorer leurs racines musicales et mettre en lumiĂšre leurs points communs. Qui dâautres que le talentueux cadet de Bob (qui fut le premier artiste reggae Ă remporter un Grammy Award dans une autre catĂ©gorie que celle consacrĂ©e au reggae Ă savoir Best/Alternative performance pour son single « Welcome To Jamrock ») et Nas vĂ©ritable icĂŽne et ambassadeur du monde hip hop (qui peut ĂȘtre fier dâavoir vendu plus de 20 millions dâalbums dans le monde entier) pouvaient rĂ©ussir ce pari ?! Si « Distant Relatives » est bien dans son Ă©poque, oĂč les genres se dĂ©cloisonnent, il est aussi solidement ancrĂ© dans ses racines reggae et hip-hop. Ce qui lui permet de varier les tempos et de se mĂ©nager des temps forts. Nas & Damian Marley ont prouvĂ© en juin dernier que leurs prestations live Ă©taient tout aussi fortes en faisant littĂ©ralement dĂ©coller le public de Couleur CafĂ©.
