Brazil altpop reggaeton afrobeat electro rock
De la world pop servie par un power trio. Le Brésilien Lucas Santtana est un génie des sons. À la fois chanteur et guitariste, c'est aussi un multi-instrumentiste ingénieux, passé maître dans l'appareillage moderne. Il utilise notamment un « monome », une sorte de sampleur open source artisanal (jetez un œil ci-dessous pour en savoir plus sur ces sympathiques loops et boutons).
Lucas Santtana a déjà collaboré avec Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Arto Lindsey, Tom Zé ou encore Chico Science.
'O Deus que devasta mas também cura' est son cinquième opus et est sorti quasi en même temps que 'Remix Nostalgia', un remix de 'Sem Nostalgia', l'album qui l'a consacré en 2011. Les Inrocks et The Times ne tarissaient pas d'éloges à l'égard de ce dernier et le site de Radio 1 a récemment proposé toute une série de titres de Lucas Santtana en préécoute.
Pour décrire sa musique, on pense à des termes comme altpop, afrobeat, reggaeton et electro rock mais on a aussi pu lire : 'technicolour masterpiece, soaring symphonic ballads, horn-led ska, heavyweight grooves, fizzing melodies and dazzling arrangements.'
Lucas et son trio comparent leur approche par couches successives à celle de Radiohead ou Metronomy : « Sur le plan de la mélodie, du rythme et de l'harmonie, tout a déjà été à peu près fait. Personne ne va réinventer la roue. Mais ce que nous pouvons faire c'est remodeler le son. »

La première partie sera assurée par rien moins que Catherine Feeny, une charmante Américaine que nous avons déjà eu le plaisir d'accueillir à l'AB. La demoiselle nous revient aujourd'hui avec un quatrième opus, d'autant plus captivant qu'il est ouvertement inspiré par la manifestation Occupy Wall Street. En fin d'année dernière, Miss Feeny s'était fortement impliquée dans le mouvement (cf. le clip) et elle pourrait même se voir prochainement intenter un procès pour sa participation. Ces événements ont clairement influencé sa musique et ses textes : 'This galvanizing experience inspired Feeny's fourth solo album. A bold and haunting statement about a nation on a precipice, "America" deftly juxtaposes the fragile beauty of hope with the menace of arrogance and corruption.'
