Kartasan est le nouveau groupe emmenĂ© par le chanteur, pianiste et compositeur Jan Vandecasteele. Une pop rock accrocheuse avec un petit cĂŽtĂ© retors, fourmillant dâinfluences jazz et latines. Le genre de chansons quâon a lâimpression de connaĂźtre depuis toujours sans les avoir jamais entendues. Jan possĂšde une voix remarquable et est entourĂ© dâun solide band, auquel vient sâajouter The Killer Horns en live.
A lâĂ©tĂ© 2007, Jan prend une annĂ©e sabbatique pour rĂ©aliser son rĂȘve, la composition dâun vĂ©ritable album. Une premiĂšre dĂ©mo est alors enregistrĂ©e Ă Gand avec lâaide de Barber Marquey. Vandecasteele la fait Ă©couter aux frĂšres Frederik (guitare) et Simon Segers (batterie) ainsi quâĂ Matthias Debusschere (basse Ă©lectrique et contrebasse) et le courant passe immĂ©diatement entre les musiciens. Les bases de Kartasan sont dĂšs lors jetĂ©es.
Le groupe a depuis fignolĂ© son rĂ©pertoire, rĂ©arrangĂ© par Jan et Frederik, et a eu lâoccasion de jouer une sĂ©rie de try-outs, notamment dans le cadre de Broodje Brussel oĂč lâassistance a Ă©tĂ© agrĂ©ablement surprise par la maturitĂ© de ces jeunes musiciens. Alors qu'ils ne bĂ©nĂ©ficient d'aucun airplay Ă la radio, leur public nâa cessĂ© de croĂźtre Ă chaque concert.
Au cours de lâĂ©tĂ© 2008, le groupe a commencĂ© Ă enregistrer son premier album âAnother Profileâ au Studio On The Moon Ă Drongen, en compagnie dâun impressionnant casting de musiciens : The Killer Horns avec Marc De Maeseneer, Yves Fernandez et Frederik Heirman, un ensemble de cordes avec Paul Klinck, Jeroen Baert, Erwin Fourbert et Seraphine Stragier, en plus des contrebasse, orgue hammond, banjo et autres percussions. Tous les musiciens ont travaillĂ© avec beaucoup enthousiasme sur ce prestigieux CD. Werner Pensaert a Ă©tĂ© immĂ©diatement conquis par le projet et a mixĂ© lâalbum au studio Audioworkx en Hollande.
